
Hershell Marshall, of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born February 13, 1946, in Batesville, the son of Floyd Herbert and Eula Mae (Weaver) Marshall.
Mr. Marshall graduated from Newark High School and went on to attend Lyon College. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Thule, Greenland. After his time in the military service, he began a long and successful career in construction. He was the owner and operator of Marshall Construction, where he worked as a general contractor until his retirement in 2022. Mr. Marshall was a devoted member of Hazel Edwards United Methodist Church, where he served as a board member.
In Mr. Marshall’s free time, he was an avid pilot. His greatest joy in life was the time spent with his family.
Mr. Marshall is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Kay (Baughman) Marshall; three brothers, J.R. Marshall, Mitchell Marshall, and Charles E. Marshall; three sisters, Brenda McPherson, Ola Lee Weaver, and Mary Etta Johnson; and his parents.
He is survived by two sons, Lamar Marshall and wife, Mary, of Plano, Texas, and Brian Marshall of Cherry Valley; a brother, Howard Marshall of Benton; a sister, Katherine Barnes of Mt. Ida; his sister-in-law, Midge Taylor, of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Blair Marshall, Jessica Wade and husband, Pete, Hannah Hall and husband, William, Lindsey Furlong and husband, Jason, and Cole Marshall and wife, Katarina; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Marshall will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Hazel Edwards United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jerome Jolly officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery. Friends may visit the church on Wednesday morning, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Blair Marshall, Cole Marshall, William Hall, Jason Furlong, Pete Wade, and Chase Hall. Honorary pallbearers are David McClain, Jerry Lynn McClain, Jason Farley, and Benny Dugger.
