Obituary: Elouise (Stacy) Hite

Elouise (Stacy) Hite of Searcy, formerly of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the age of 98. She was born August 16, 1927, at the Remmel Community, the daughter of Ray and Lena Doris (Compton) Stacy.

Mrs. Hite graduated from Newport High School, and in January of 1946, Miss Elouise Stacy married Mr. James Roy Hite. They enjoyed 54 years together, until Mr. Hite’s passing in 2000.

Mrs. Hite had an incredible work ethic, never sitting still very long. Throughout her life, she worked at Standard Rolling Mill, Kickeroos Shoe Factory, and Victorian Scents, all while working alongside her husband at James R. Hite and Sunray Farms.

Mrs. Hite was an active member of the Ret Hat Society and Senior Circle, and was an excellent cook who enjoyed baking and canning. She liked watching Wheel of Fortune and The Lawrence Welk Show.

A dedicated member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ, Mrs. Hite was an active participant in the Ladies Bible Study Group.

Above all, she loved her family, and her greatest joy came from time spent with them.

Mrs. Hite was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Roy Hite; one son, Gordon Ray Hite; one brother, Donald Ray Stacy; two sisters, Mary Alice Ploch and Oleta Griffin; and her parents.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Ann Robinson of Dripping, Texas; five grandchildren, Lee Kempf and husband, Carl, Susan Gayle Russell and husband, John, James Brent Hite, Heather Evans and husband, Mark, and Robin Denise Privitt; six great grandchildren, Joshua Russell, Taylor Kempf, Lindsay Kempf, Cody Evans, Caleb Evans, and Ariel Privett; many nieces and nephews; special family friends, Sue and Frank Wright; and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday, November 7, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Friday, with Mr. J.L. May officiating.

Interment will be at Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Phillip Stacy, Matt Stacy, Scotty Gann, Eddie Gann, Frank Wright, and Calieb Callahan. Thurman Walker will be an honorary pallbearer.
