Jonathan Eugene Coe, born April 28, 1966, in Eureka Springs, AR, to William Eugene and Maudie Quindora (Taylor) Coe, passed away December 2, 2025, in Batesville, AR.
Jon loved being outdoors, fishing, and working with rocks. He was a master stone craftsman and meticulously made whetstones out of rocks from his own quarry that he sold all over the world. He loved to operate heavy machinery and he built his home as well as a rock-cutting machine. He was a hard worker and never let anything slow him down. He was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 5, and although it took a toll on his health, he pushed through all of the challenges and was a fighter. He had a soft heart for dogs and took in many strays throughout his life. He was highly intelligent and quick-witted, and always wanted to make others laugh. He had a relationship with Jesus and knew he would be completely free. He will be sorely missed.
He graduated from Cord Charlotte High School in 1984 and received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Arkansas College (now Lyon College) and was a math teacher for over 10 years at high school and state prison levels. He also worked for Norandal USA lab.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur Hayes and Dollie Genevieve (Cash) Taylor of Searcy County, Arkansas and Thomas Lee Sr. and Cora Bell (Winston) Coe of Jackson County, Arkansas; his siblings, infant sister Deborah Renee Coe, Elizabeth Kay Coe Monroe, and Regina Ruth Coe.
Survivors include his parents, brother Thomas Taylor Coe, daughters Lauren (Blake) Taylor and Lindsey Valentine, grandchildren Jaylee Hubbard, Carlie Hubbard, Jack Taylor and Malakiah Valentine, nieces Ashley Brown and Heather Brown, nephew Kegan (Stephanie) Barnett, and several other cousins, great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, December 6th at Foothills Cowboy Church in Batesville, AR, from 1-3 pm with a sermon from 1:00-1:15 by Pastor Glenn McKay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Independence County and to Foothills Cowboy Church.
A special thanks to Jon’s cousin, Randall Coe, for his unwavering devotion, help, encouragement, love, and support to Jonathan and the family, and to White River Medical Center for the care of our son, brother, father and uncle.
