Nathan Jennings Bradley of Swifton, Arkansas, lovingly known as “Uncle Bubber” to his nieces and nephews, departed this life surrounded by family and friends at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the age of 61. He was born in Newport, Arkansas on April 8, 1964, the son of Rufus George Bradley and Virginia Avery (Huskey) Bradley.
Nathan was a typical boy growing up, roughhousing and picking on his younger siblings, but he matured at a young age with family responsibilities. He was the oldest of three at the time, all one year apart. He went hunting and fishing to provide food on the table. He was put in charge, at times, of his younger sisters. He would take them fishing, jumping off the cellar, climbing trees, building tree houses, constructing “Laff-A-Lympics” obstacle courses, and playing board and card games. He loved his family and had a funny sense of humor.
He loved staying active outdoors as he stayed busy working on the farm with his Dad as he was growing up. Nathan was a 1982 graduate of Swifton High School. After graduation, Nathan served in the United States Army. He later earned a degree from Arkansas State University Beebe in diesel mechanics.
Nathan used his diesel mechanics knowledge many times. He could fix anything and while he was working on it, people were saying that it would never work, but it did. He had his own special way of doing things. Nathan was a truck driver for a while. He also worked at Pizza Inn and Pizza Pro where he really enjoyed making pizzas as part of his job. Nathan worked at the North Little Rock Post Office and was later employed by the Jonesboro Post Office.
Outside of working and staying busy, Nathan loved to go fishing and hunting. He and his mother raised a big garden together for several years. He used to play the “Command & Conquer Generals” game with his niece and nephews, Heather, Bradley, and Nathan, and has now played it for about 25 years. Later in life, he took pleasure in watching movies and just getting out and riding in the car. Nathan absolutely loved his dogs named Johnny, George, and Pepsi Cola. He also loved his chickens.
Nathan kept to himself and avoided people a lot of times. He appeared to have a hard shell on the outside, but he had a good heart. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He helped people stranded on the side of the road to get their cars running again.
Nathan is preceded in death by his father, Rufus George Bradley; paternal grandparents, George and Alice (Winemiller) Bradley; and maternal grandparents, Cleo and Wanda Lee (Herring) Huskey.
Nathan is survived by his mother, Virginia (Huskey) Bradley of Swifton, his daughter, Summer (Bradley) Brownderville and her husband, Nathan, of Sulphur Rock, AR. Also surviving are his three sisters Sherri Gregson, and her husband, Gorden (Mike), of Jacksonville, AR, Rhonda Rodgers, and her husband, Allen, of Elbert, TX, and Lora Blevins of Swifton, and a life-long friend as a brother, Ricky Roberts, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and a lifetime of friends. In honor of Nathan’s request, he will be cremated, and there are no funeral arrangements at this time.
