Obituary: Kenneth Charles “Tyler” Cordell

Kenneth Charles “Tyler” Cordell of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the age of 36. He was born in Newport on September 8, 1989, the son of Wayne C. and Patricia “Patty” (Flinn) Cordell.

Tyler was a 2008 graduate of Cedar Ridge High School. He worked in construction and also on the farm, alongside his dad.

Tyler was an avid sports fan and proudly supported the New York Yankees and never missed a chance to watch MMA fights. He also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. Tyler loved music, attending concerts, and good food. He spent time working out and staying active. Tyler truly loved everyone and adored his nephew, Henry, and his dogs, Rocko and Longmire. Tyler will be remembered for his beautiful smile and his happy-go-lucky personality.

Tyler was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Norma Cordell; and his maternal grandparents, Kenneth “Buddy” and Mildred Flinn.

He is survived by his wife, Tonya (Beckum) Cordell, of the home; his children, Dawson Kelly, Daniel Kelly, and Derek Beckum, of the home; two brothers, Ted Lewallen and wife, Mary Catherine, of San Benito, Texas and Brian Cordell and wife, Annie, of Crab Orchard, Illinois; two sisters, Casi Robinson and husband, Curtis, of Pea Ridge and Miranda Rounds and husband, Richard, of Gravette, Arkansas; many nieces and nephews; his parents, Wayne and Patty Cordell, of Newark; and special friend, Warren Boyd and family, of California.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jimmy Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Newark. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, beginning at 12:30 p.m. until service time.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jason Hall, Justin Gardner, Darrell Alcorn, and Justin Potter. Honorary pallbearers are his friends at Wavelengths Recovery of Huntington Beach, California.
