
Christa Jean (Curtis) Gibbs, of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the age of 41. She was born in Batesville on August 20, 1984, the daughter of Nancy Jean Curtis.
Christa was a 2003 graduate of Newport High School. She went on to attend Harding College and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Later, Christa dedicated her time to being a homeschool teacher. Christa was a devoted member of Amagon Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School.
In Christa’s free time, she found joy in the simple things she loved most. She was an avid reader and loved spending time in the kitchen cooking for her family. She enjoyed watching crime shows and cooking shows. Above all, Christa’s greatest joy in life was the time spent with her family and friends.
Christa is survived by her husband of twelve years, John David Gibbs, of the home; two sons, Ashton Gibbs and Leon Gibbs, both of Newport; a daughter, Rose Gibbs, of Newport; three brothers, Joel Curtis of Missouri, Shawn Curtis, and Noah Curtis, of Newport; a sister, Amber Curtis, of Newport; and her mother, Nancy Jean Curtis, of Newport. Also surviving her is her brother-in-law, Jimmy Gibbs and wife, Angela, of Newport; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Gibbs, Carla Gibbs, and Linda Gibbs, all of Newport; and her best friend, Emily McAllister, of Choctaw, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Ryan Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Coffeyville Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, December 30, 2025, beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jimmy Gibbs, Noah Curtis, Ashton Gibbs, Grady Henson, James Jones, and Ricky Gibbs. Honorary pallbearers are Leon Gibbs and Ty Gates.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
