An Independence County man has been arrested and faces multiple felony charges after authorities say he repeatedly rammed a vehicle into a residence, caused extensive damage, and later fled from deputies.

According to an affidavit filed Friday in Independence County Circuit Court, Jeffery Raydean McBride, 49, is charged with residential burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of methamphetamine, and fleeing.

Deputies responded shortly after 7 a.m. Jan. 8 to a reported disturbance at a home on Reed Wade Road. The homeowner told investigators that McBride intentionally drove a black Jeep Wrangler into the garage multiple times, striking vehicles parked inside before fleeing through a fence separating nearby properties, the affidavit states.

A deputy reported heavy damage to the garage, with both doors pushed off their tracks and resting on vehicles inside. A Ford F-150 was forced through a wall and partially out of the structure. Investigators later estimated the damage at approximately $31,000.

Authorities said McBride later returned to the property and was seen walking behind the home. Deputies ordered him to stop, but he ignored commands and entered the residence. After forcing entry, deputies pursued McBride into a bedroom, where they reported hearing a sound similar to a firearm being chambered. McBride was taken into custody after additional officers arrived.

Investigators said a small bag containing a white crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed less than two grams was found nearby.

A witness told deputies he saw a black Jeep repeatedly ram the garage several times earlier that morning.

McBride was arrested and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
