Ginger (Holt) Pollard, 72, of Newport, passed from this life on January 11, 2026. She was born in Newport on July 11, 1953, to Ray and Elizabeth (Ensley) Holt, and spent her life rooted in the community she loved.
Ginger dedicated many years to her work as a beautician and hairdresser. More than a profession, it was a way she connected with people—listening, caring, and helping others feel confident and beautiful. Her chair was often a place of conversation, laughter, and friendship, and she took great pride in her craft.
Above all else, Ginger treasured her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, sister, nana, aunt, and friend whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. She had a gentle heart, a generous spirit, and an unwavering love for her family that was evident in everything she did.
Ginger found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time at home with her cherished cats, Miss Priss and Sammy Jo, who were constant companions. She enjoyed hairstyling, crafting, and expressing her creativity, and she never missed the chance to sit down and watch her favorite John Wayne movies. These moments brought her peace and contentment.
Ginger will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, and her deep love for family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry (Duck) Pollard; her son, Jeremy Pollard; and her brother, Ray Holt Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Emory (Brian) of Newport; her grandchildren, Taya Emory of Tuckerman, Karlie Huskey (Kaleb) of Southside, and Katie Pollard of Southside; her great granddaughter, Shaelynn Emory of Tuckerman; her brother, Sidney Holt (Cathy) of Bradford; her sister, Mary Lou Chambliss (David) of Tuckerman; her special nieces, Shari Roberts (Kenny) of Newport and Angela Stephens of Oil Trough; countless other family members and a lifetime of friends.
Memorial service will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel.
