High school students in Batesville will soon have a new path to a college degree without leaving campus — or paying tuition.

The Batesville School District, in partnership with the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, has announced the opening of the Batesville Collegiate Academy, a program designed to move students beyond college and career exposure to college degree attainment.

The academy allows students to earn both a high school diploma and an associate degree, at no cost to students or their families. Participants must be enrolled in the Batesville School District.

Through the partnership, students may complete a general education Associate of Arts degree, which provides a foundation for many four-year degree programs.

“The Batesville Collegiate Academy represents an important step forward in expanding opportunities for students in the Batesville School District. Opportunities like this are a springboard for students that stretch beyond graduation,” Batesville Superintendent Dr. Ginni McDonald said. “This partnership with UACCB means Batesville students will have meaningful opportunities to earn a degree, graduate with a strong academic foundation, and strengthen our community for years to come.”

The Batesville Collegiate Academy is located on the Batesville High School campus, allowing students to pursue college-level coursework while remaining connected to their school community. Students enrolled in the academy remain Batesville High School students and may continue participating in extracurricular activities as their schedules allow.

UACCB Chancellor Dr. Brian Shonk said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to higher education and creating affordable pathways to a college degree.

“The Batesville Collegiate Academy allows students to begin their college journey early while staying connected to their high school experience,” Shonk said.

Students who complete the associate degree through the academy may be eligible for additional scholarship opportunities and tuition discount programs within the University of Arkansas System.

District officials said the program reflects the Batesville School District’s continued focus on expanding academic pathways and strengthening partnerships that support student success beyond high school.
