Obituary: Herbert Friedrick Zohar

Herbert Friedrick Zohar, 81, of Evening Shade, AR, died on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Herbert was born on April 11, 1944, in Vienna, Austria, to the late Joseph Zohar and Margeret (Jarros) Zohar. He was of the Christian faith.

Herbert served his country honorably for over 20 years in the United States Navy as a Machinist’s Mate First Class. Herbert was very good with his hands; aside from his work in the Navy, he was also a talented builder. He helped build many houses from the ground up. Herbert loved soccer. He loved to play and watch soccer. He liked to cheer on Team USA soccer and the Guadalajara Chivas. He loved music, enjoyed singing karaoke, and even knew how to play the piano. He was a man of many talents and passions.

Herbert is preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Susan Marie Zohar; his daughter, Sonya Zohar; his brother, Bill Zohar; and his sister, Edith Zohar. He is survived by his sons, Vernon Ray Zohar (Felicia), Ryan Zohar (Liz Marie), Matthew Hodges, Mike Hodges, Les Hodges, and David Hodges; his daughters, Tonya Newell and Treina Zohar; 20 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Bateville, AR. There will be a visitation on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel from 12 PM until 1 PM. There will be a graveside service at Evening Shade Cemetery the same day, beginning at 2 PM, with full military honors rendered by the United States Navy.
