Billy Eugene Thrasher of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born September 24, 1952, in Earle, Arkansas, the son of J.C. Samuel and Sylvia (Parker) Thrasher.
Mr. Thrasher dedicated many years of his life working as a janitor for the Newport School District, where he was a familiar and reliable presence. In his retirement, he enjoyed drinking coffee at Coleman’s Combo and Hardee’s. He also appreciated watching science fiction movies. Known for his quiet demeanor, Mr. Thrasher often kept to himself, valuing the comfort of solitude.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Thrasher; one brother, Jeff L. Thrasher; his parents, J.C. and Sylvia Thrasher; and his mother-in-law, Neva Nicholson Holt.
Mr. Thrasher is survived by his wife, Jeanetta (Nicholson) Thrasher of Newport, and three sons, Wesley Thrasher of Calico Rock, Terry Thrasher of Walnut Ridge, and David Thrasher of Walnut Ridge; three grandchildren, Haily Boyd, Cory Thrasher, and Andrea Thrasher.
Honorary pallbearers are Arthur Tidwell, Terry Thrasher, and David Thrasher.
