Obituary: Joe Michael Long Sr.

Joe Michael Long Sr., 79, of Harrisburg, Arkansas, departed this life Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Joe was born February 23, 1947, in Harrisburg, Arkansas, the son of John D. and Maxine (Ford) Long.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Randall L. Long, and one sister, Carolyn (Long) Mc Mullin, his first wife, Linda Faye (Jackson) Long in 1990 and second wife, Frances Jo (Presson) Long in 2014.

He graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1965. Joe was a self-employed person in Trucking and Gravel hauling, also a member of the Church of Christ, a member of the Masonic Lodge #184 and Shriners. He enjoyed dancing, camping, trading vehicles, and for fun, he did Elvis impersonations with scarves and leis. Spending time with family and friends was at the top of his list of things to do.

Joe is survived by his Mother, Maxine (Ford) Long of Harrisburg, one son, Joey (Tammy) Long also of Harrisburg, one daughter, Lynette (Steve) Kirk of Arlington, Tennessee, one brother, Perry (June) Long, one sister, Johnetta (Mickey) Privett all of Harrisburg, Grandchildren: Molly Long, Hayden Murphy, Matt Parker, Maria McCoy, and Brett Long, Great-Grandchildren: Knox Parker, Kross Parker, Ryatt Murphy, Sway Parker, Porter Murphy and Madilyn McCoy.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. The family will have a private graveside service on Monday at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Ryan Murphy, Matt Parker, Nick Tegethoff, Jackson Mc Coy, Brett Long, and Kevin Privett. Arrangements are by Jackson’s Funeral Home.
