Local talent took center stage last month as the North Arkansas Dance Theatre (NADT) Dance Academy’s competition team secured a major studio honor and dozens of individual awards at the Groove Dance Competition in Branson.

The event, which drew performers from across the region, saw NADT dancers from multiple academy locations earn a sweep of adjudicated honors and several Top Ten placements. In addition to high scores, several routines were singled out by the panel for specialized Judges’ Choice Awards.

The weekend’s highest honor went to the academy’s leadership. NADT founder and director Cindy Hubberd accepted the Apex Studio Award, a distinction recognizing the program for overall excellence in performance and technique.

“Our dancers worked incredibly hard for these results,” the academy noted in a statement following the event, highlighting the collaboration between the various regional branches.

Area residents will have the opportunity to see the award-winning choreography in person next month. The academy is set to present its upcoming production, “The Greatest Show,” on May 29 and 30 in Batesville.

The performance will feature the competition team alongside other academy students. Tickets for the show will be available for purchase at the door on both days of the event.

For more information regarding the upcoming performance or academy programs, the public may contact the studio at 1-866-468-6238 (ext. 0) or visit nadt.info. Updates are also provided via the academy’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
