Cole Anderson, Ray Price, and Dominique Loyd earned All-AMC honors, while Chad Tapp was named AMC Coach of the Year
ST. LOUIS – Three Lyon College men’s basketball teams earned All-American Midwest Conference (AMC) honors, while Chad Tapp (pictured above, far right) was named as the AMC Coach of the Year, as the conference announced its postseason awards on Tuesday night.
Sophomore forward Cole Anderson (pictured, second from left) was selected to the All-AMC First-Team. Junior guard Ray Price (pictured, second from right) landed on the All-AMC Second-Team, while Dominique Loyd (pictured, far left) was a Third-Team All-AMC selection. Loyd was also selected as a member of the AMC All-Defensive Team.
Anderson finished tied with Price as the leading scorers for the Scots this season as both players averaged 10.6 points per game. Anderson also averaged 3.9 rebounds per game. He shot 51.6% (63-of-122) from the field this season. Anderson scored in double figures in 11 games this season, which included a season-high of 18 points in back-to-back games on Jan. 12 and Jan. 14. Anderson recorded one double-double (18 points, 11 rebounds) this season on Jan. 14 against Bacone College. Anderson earned AMC All-Freshman team honors last season.
Along with his 10.6 points per game average, Price grabbed 4.9 rebounds per game, which was the second-best average on the team this season. Price scored in double figures eight times during the season, including a career-high of 24 points on Jan. 23 against Missouri Baptist.
Loyd averaged 9.8 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game during his senior season. He knocked down a team-high 21 three-pointers this season. Loyd scored in double figures seven times this year, including a career-high 27 points on Feb. 21 against Central Baptist College. Defensively, Loyd was often matched up against an opposing teams’ top offensive player. He also tied for the team lead with 17 steals.
Tapp was named the AMC Coach of the Year for the second time in his career after leading the Scots to their first AMC Regular-Season Championship and the first conference title for the program since the 1982-83 season. The Scots had their best winning percentage in a regular season since the 1979-80 season. Tapp also won the AMC Coach of the Year following the 2013-14 season.
Tony Burks of Columbia College was named the AMC Player and Newcomer of the Year. Harrison Vickers, who is also from Columbia, was named the AMC Freshman of the Year. Darius Yohe of William Woods was named the AMC Defensive Player of the Year.
