Price Holmes, the strength and conditioning coach for the Batesville Pioneers, has been named State Coach of the Year by the National High School Strength Coaches Association for Region 2 Southwest (NHSSCA).

“This couldn’t happen to a more deserving, humble, and dedicated coach out there,” Pioneer AD Coach Dave King told White River Now. “A true Pioneer that has completely dedicated his knowledge and time to every athletic program in the district. Congrats Coach P Holmes.”

The National High School Strength Coaches Association (NHSSCA) was created to allow high school coaches to grow as true professionals. Its mission to educate, equip, and empower coaches to make a positive impact in the lives of student-athletes.

“I am not big on personal awards, but I am honored to be recognized by my peers,” Holmes said. “This award wouldn’t be possible without the athletes I am able to work with and the coaches who allow me the time and opportunity to work with their kids. I’m always searching for ways to continue my education in the field of strength and conditioning to help the athletes that I work with reach their potential. It has been a huge passion of mine, starting when I began college.”

Holmes also credited his BHS roots.

“I learned some very important lessons from my coaches at Batesville High School that helped carry me through some tough times while at the University of Arkansas and afterwards while working there,” he said. “I still carry the lessons I learned with me today as a husband and a father. I got into coaching because I wanted to make the same positive impact on someone’s life that I had during my playing journey.

“It is an honor to be back at Batesville trying to make a difference in the lives of kids in our community. I am thankful to the coaches at our school that allow me the time and opportunity to work with their kids in the weight room or training on the field.
