Lady Yellowjackets fall to Clinton

The Mountain View Lady Yellowjackets lost to the Clinton Lady Yellowjackets 54-36 in the district tournament finals Saturday night, Feb. 19, at Riverview High School.

The game was close early as Clinton hit two free throws before halftime to take a 19-17 halftime lead. Mountain View never evened the score in the second half as Clinton outscored Mountain View 35-19 in the second half for the victory. Josie Storey led Mountain View with 14 points, Harley Avey added 11 points, Kennedy Holland added 10 rebounds, and Emry Johnson added eight rebounds.  

Mountain View finished the conference and regular season with a record of 18-7 overall record and were co-conference champions with Clinton and district tournament runner-up.

On Friday night, Mountain View overcame a 13-point second-half deficit to defeat the Pangburn Lady Tigers 37-31.

The Lady Yellowjacket offense struggled but managed to outscored Pangburn 15-4 in the fourth quarter for the victory and a spot in the championship game on Saturday night. Josie Storey led the way with 19 points while Kennedy Holland added six points and 10 rebounds.  

Mountain View will be the number-two seed from the 3A-2 Conference in the Region 2 regional tournament.  

They will take on Corning on Thursday afternoon at 4 at Rose Bud High School.
