Obituary: John Leon Payne

John Leon Payne, 51, of Harrisburg departed this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at St. Bernard Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born on June 7, 1942, in Eudora, Arkansas, the son of Roy Leon and Mary Francis (Seamans) Payne.

His parents preceded him in death. John married Sandra Kay Blocker on August 22, 1963, and they have enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage. John was in the food business most of his life, serving as a manager for grocery stores for several years. John was a member of Shell Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He served his country in United States Navy for six years before going to the reserves. He enjoyed woodworking, loved his animals, having many rabbits, cats, ducks, goats, and pigs, and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his new great-grandson, John Michael.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay (Blocker) Payne of the home in Harrisburg, one daughter, Patricia (Payne) Patterson of West Memphis, Arkansas, one sister, Opal Figgieo of New Jersey, two grandchildren: Jacob (Morgan) Patterson of West Memphis and Lauren (William) Rogers of Marion, Arkansas, and one great-grandson, John Michael Rogers.

The family will have a private memorial after Cremation.
