Local Beekeeping Group Invites Community to Monthly Meetings at Independence County Library
Those interested in helping native pollinators and wildlife thrive are invited to attend the upcoming monthly meetings of the Batesville Beeks. Operating under the guiding motto, “Where bees build community,” the group offers a welcoming, supportive space for individuals of all experience levels—from seasoned apiarists to curious beginners in Batesville and the surrounding areas.
Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month at 2:00 PM in the Janis M. Walmsley Meeting Room at the Independence County Library.
The monthly gatherings aim to foster a kind, respectful environment where community members can connect, share resources, and discuss topics vital to the regional beekeeping industry. In addition to standard group discussions, the Batesville Beeks will host occasional educational classes led by local expert Addie Walsh, who brings a wealth of specialized knowledge to help keepers of all levels succeed.
“As a lifelong animal lover, I want the community to know that Batesville Beeks is about much more than just bees—we’re truly a community. We meet monthly with neighbors just like you to share knowledge and talk about how we can support not only honey bees, but all native pollinators and local wildlife.
If you care about animals and your community, I encourage you to come see what we’re about. At Batesville Beeks, you’ll meet local people, be part of something that benefits our environment, and very likely learn something new along the way.” said Addie Walsh.
As a central hub for local enthusiasts, the Batesville Beeks will also provide information and updates regarding the Batesville Area Association of the Arkansas Beekeeping Association.
There is no cost to attend, and all interested community members are encouraged to join, engage kindly, and help grow the local beekeeping network.
The Independence County Library offers a variety of free events, classes and groups for all ages, abilities and interests at no cost. Follow Independence County Library on Facebook and Instagram for community updates.
