A move by a Stone County Jail inmate to acquire enough funds to bail himself out of jail has apparently gotten him into deeper trouble with the law, according to authorities.
John David Levey, 45, who was working on the trash pickup detail, was found to have contraband on his person as he was being checked back into jail.
He was found to have hidden in a part of his clothing, a lighter and some rolls of tobacco.
According to the affidavit of probable cause for arrest, Levey told authorities he was going to sell the tobacco inside the jail in order to have enough money to make bail.
He is now charged with furnishing prohibited articles into a jail, which is a felony.
His bail on this new charge is $5,000.
