Two killed in accident south of Cave City Saturday night

A head-on collision south of Cave City last night has claimed the lives of two men.

According to the preliminary fatal crash summary from the Arkansas State Police, Daniel Petty, 59, of Essex, Mo., was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on Highway 167 around 9 p.m. Saturday when his vehicle went left of the center line, crossed the turn lane, and traveled into both northbound lanes where it struck a 2017 Honda CR-V driven by Drew Grant, 33, of Jackson, Mo. Both drivers were killed in the collision.

A passenger in Petty’s vehicle, and two passengers, including a juvenile, in Grant’s vehicle were injured. Traffic on Highway 167 was stopped after the accident as authorities worked the scene with the injured being airlifted.

The summary notes the roadway was dry and clear at the time of the collision.
