Batesville police were chasing a man wanted for questioning about a fight at a Batesville motel.

After a search of a wooded area by Independence County Sheriff’s Department deputies, authorities found and arrested Mitchell Bret Bell, 24, of Strawberry.

Deputy Zach Spohr found Bell in the woods and held him at gunpoint until other officers arrived to assist.

After a struggle, Bell was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Independence County Detention Facility.

Bell remained combative at the jail and had to be placed into a restraint chair.

Sheriff Shawn Stephens placed Bell on a probable cause hold.

Bell could be facing several charges including fleeing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct/fighting or other violence, public intoxication, second-degree battery against an officer of the law, and terroristic threatening.
