An Independence County Election Commissioner has informed his party that he is giving up his position on the commission.
Commission chairman, Darrell Hayes, has told the Republican Party Chairman in Independence County, Charles Fuqua, that for health reasons he is stepping aside.
Hayes’ successor will come from the Republican Party.
Fuqua has sent an e-mail to party members asking if anyone has an interest in replacing Hayes.
The Election Commission is currently composed of two Republican Party members and one member from the Democratic Party.
