Obituary: Almeda Beatrice Minyard Varnell

Almeda Beatrice (Minyard) Varnell, 92, of Batesville passed away peacefully with family by her side Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

She was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Eric, Oklahoma to the late Roy Minyard and Edith (Norton) Minyard.

Almeda was a member of Allen Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and previously served as Church Secretary. In her earlier years, she worked for JK Southerland Poultry Plant; she retired from White Rodgers after 25 years; and enjoyed working for and volunteering with WRHS Auxillary. Almeda also enjoyed gardening and loved to read in her free time.

Survivors include her son, Randy Varnell, and wife, Susan of Batesville; daughter, Marilyn Varnell of Rosie; daughter-in-law, Kathy Varnell; five grandchildren, Jamie Ira Varnell, Holly Nicole Varnell, Laura Butler and husband, Jim, Julie Pruett Turner and husband, Doug and Leigh Ann Pruett Wright and husband, Nathan; and eight great-grandchildren, Avery Clark and wife, Mary Kate, Hadden Clark, Laiken Varnell, Landry Varnell, Beau Turner, Tessa Turner, Chase Wright, and Isabella Wright.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Minyard (1975) and Edith Minyard (1979); her husband, Ira Randolph Varnell (2000); son, Royce Varnell (2016); and two brothers, Frank Minyard (1960) and Nathan Minyard (2009).

Pallbearers are Jamie Varnell, Joey Sample, Joe Johnson, Shawn Haigwood, Donald Finster, and Doug Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Byrd, Jimmy Leonard, Mike Harvill, and Nathan Wright.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville with Rev. Ronnie Blanks. Burial will follow at Egner Cemetery in Salado.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the funeral home.
