Independence County Deputy Sheriff, Logan Weller was dispatched to a vehicle pulling a house trailer with no tires on the back axle, causing damage to O’Neal Road.

Deputy Weller said it was determined the trailer had been towed northward on Harmontown Road, and then onto O’Neal Road traveling west. There was damage starting in the  200-block of Harmontown Road and continuing 3.7 miles down O’Neal Road and onto Garcia Lane.

Deputy Weller said at the corner of O’Neal Road and Garcia Lane, the vehicle pulling the house trailer hit a utility pole knocking electricity out in the area.

Weller said after the trailer was high-centered, the vehicle pulling it left the area in an unknown direction.

Deputy Weller estimated $10,000 damage to the county roads and $5,800 to replace a utility pole and transformer.

Weller said he does have the name and address of the person who was pulling the house trailer. It is expected police will bring him in for questioning before charges are filed.

Some charges that could be filed include; felony criminal mischief, misdemeanor criminal mischief, criminal trespass, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended driver’s license, and driving left of center.
