Visitors to downtown Batesville can celebrate the arts this weekend.

The Batesville Area Arts Council is collaborating with art students at Lyon College to host an Art Walk on Main Street.

The event will be held Friday, May 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will be a self-guided viewing of artwork and is free to the public of all ages.

Lyon College Art students will have their artwork displayed at four locations: Fellowship Bible Church (Landers Theater — 332 E. Main), Stella’s Brick Oven Pizzeria and Bistro (250 E. Main), BAAC Gallery on Main (226 E. Main), and the Batesville Mercantile (201 E. Main).

Gallery 246 (243 E. Main) will also be open for the Art Walk.

The Batesville Area Arts Council’s Gallery on Main at 226 E. Main will also hold a reception for their 10th annual National Juried Exhibition during the Art Walk. This year’s exhibition features the work of 23 artists from 10 different states.

The juror for the exhibition is Kimi Kitada, a contemporary art curator based in Kansas City, who currently works as the Jedel Family Foundation Curatorial Fellow at Charlotte Street Foundation. The awards will be announced starting at 6 p.m.

The Art Walk on Main Street is sponsored by Merchants & Planters Bank.
