Catherine Marie McGee West, affectionately known as Cathy, was born in Wichita, Kansas but raised in Strawberry, Arkansas, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend peacefully passed away in her home on Thursday, May 25, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.

Cathy was a woman of great strength and resilience. She faced life’s challenges with unwavering courage, and her indomitable spirit served as an inspiration to all who knew her. Cathy leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, warmth, and compassion.

Cathy is survived by her two beloved sons, Sherman Lee West of Paulsbo, Washington and Jeremy D. West of Wilmington, North Carolina. Jeremy is married to Waneta E. Ellis, and together they have a beautiful child, Dixon M. West, who brought immense joy to Cathy (“Grams”) life. Jeremy also has two other children, Christian (“hotrod”) M. Sherman, Cathy’s other son, has two sons of his own, Anthony West and Ryan West.

She adored her grandchildren and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Cathy’s love extended beyond her immediate family, and she is also survived by her dear brother, Jerry Hugh McGee, and his wife, Linda McGee. Jerry Hugh has a daughter, Debara McGee Fisher (the “Favorite Niece”), who is married to Scotty Fisher; and a son, Terry McGee, who is married to Kristi McGee.

Cathy will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in her family cemetery located in her hometown of Strawberry, Arkansas.

As we mourn the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, and celebrate her life, let us remember the beautiful moments shared, the laughter and joy she brought, and the profound impact she had on all our lives. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

Rest in peace, Cathy. Your memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
