Obituary: Jerry Wayne Nance

Jerry Wayne Nance, 75, of Evening Shade, Arkansas passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, in Ash Flat, Arkansas surrounded by his daughters.  He was born on May 4, 1948, in Alton, Missouri to Elmer and Virginia Nance.  Jerry was a construction worker, truck driver and a member of the VFW Post 8042 in Evening Shade, Arkansas and a Master Mason.  He enjoyed horseback riding with his riding partners, Larry Brown and Sandy Taylor.  He also enjoyed the outdoors, playing his guitar, singing and just being around people, most especially the children who knew him as the bubblegum man with his buckets or pockets full of gum to pass out anytime he saw a child.

 He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leroy Nance; one daughter, Stacy Nance; and a grandson, Taylor Wayne McPherson.

He is survived by his wife of over 23 years, Carolyn Thomas of the home; his daughters, Sandra Criss  (Chris) of Jackson, Tennessee, Sonia Crabtree (Brad) of Cave City, Arkansas and Tracey Thomas, of Cave City, Arkansas; one brother, David Nance (Loretta); one sister, Darlene Casey; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in lieu of a funeral.
