Connie was a Christian who professed his faith in Christ at an early age. On September 28, 1963, he married his soulmate and lifelong partner, Lorene Jason of Fifty-Six. Shortly thereafter, they bought their home and settled in the Morning Star community, where they lived throughout their married life. They built a beautiful life and marriage together, cherishing one another deeply. If you saw one, the other was never far behind.
Connie always had a smile on his face and loved to laugh and joke around. He loved life and deeply loved his family and friends. Connie was a construction worker by trade and was incredibly talented—there was nothing he couldn’t do. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Over the years, he built many houses, poured countless yards of concrete, and laid thousands of blocks. Connie also enjoyed auctions and was a licensed auctioneer. In his spare time, he and Lorene farmed their land and raised cattle. He took great pride in everything he did.
Although Connie and Lorene never had children of their own, they were blessed with nieces and nephews whom they loved, spoiled, and cared for as their own. They played with them, made them feel special, and shared in their joys. As those children grew up, Connie and Lorene were affectionately renamed “Papa Connie” and “Granny Lorene,” embracing their role in loving and spoiling the next two generations. Connie cherished all of his kids and took great joy in each of them.
Connie was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Shirley Holliman; and two brothers-in-law, Jimmie Wallis and Donnie Holliman.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Campbell; his sister, Betty Wallis of Gassville, Arkansas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
