Obituary: Van Ray Anderson

Van Ray Anderson of Cord, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born July 31, 1935, at Cord, the son of Alfred R. and Golda (Walker) Anderson.

On July 24, 1954, Mr. Van Ray Anderson was wed to Miss Carolyn Baker. They enjoyed 71 years of marriage, raising their two sons, and building a life together.

Mr. Anderson worked for Ideal Bread and Colonial Bread Companies throughout his career until retirement. He enjoyed yard work, finding great satisfaction in riding his lawnmower. Mr. Anderson had a love for animals and was a fan of basketball and football. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Shelly.

He was preceded in death by one son, Grant Anderson; two brothers, R.W. and Alfred Junior Anderson; four sisters, Infant Dorothy Anderson, Willodene Wilson, Alma Mobley, and Billie Jean Carter; and his parents.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 71 years, Carolyn (Baker) Anderson of the home; one son, Doug Anderson of Cord; one granddaughter, Shelly Marcia Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron Pick and wife, Debbie of Wichita, Kansas, Susan Vought of Wisconsin, and Herb Baker of Tulsa, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
