Local doctors are marking a major milestone in cardiovascular care, making White River Health the first in the state to utilize a new advanced stenting technology for complex vein blockages.
Dr. Mahesh Anantha and the Cardiac Cath Lab team at White River Medical Center recently performed the first procedures in Arkansas using the Gore Viabahn Fortegra Venous Stent. The team successfully reconstructed a heavily calcified, completely blocked abdominal vein, a first in the state using this specific platform.
The FDA-approved technology is designed to treat severe blockages in the abdomen and legs. As a minimally invasive option, the stent provides a new alternative for patients suffering from long-term vein disease who previously had limited choices for treatment.
“This milestone reflects White River Health’s continued commitment to bringing cutting-edge cardiovascular and endovascular therapies to the communities of North Arkansas,” the organization said in a statement.
By adopting these advanced therapies locally, the center aims to provide specialized care to residents without requiring them to travel outside the region. More information is available at WhiteRiverHealth.org.
