At a special board meeting on Monday, the Batesville School Board voted to recommend terminating the contract of Superintendent Dr. Ginni McDonald.
The termination of the contract follows allegations of abuse at a district preschool.
McDonald had been on administrative leave since Feb. 25 while a northwest Arkansas law firm conducted an internal review to assess potential civil and criminal liability. At the time, Board President Scott Fredericks said the district sought the external review to ensure an objective process, emphasizing that student safety remains the district’s highest priority.
Assistant Superintendent David Campbell has been serving as interim superintendent since late February.
After a mandatory due process timeline, the board may hear an appeal. If there is no appeal, the board can vote to terminate.
Statement from the Batesville School District:
The Batesville School District is committed to providing a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for all students and staff.
Recently, the Board of Education moved to recommend the termination of the Superintendent for cause.
Our focus remains where it belongs — on our students, our staff, and maintaining a safe and positive educational environment.
