Bald Knob Public Schools lifted a lockdown Wednesday afternoon after authorities determined that a threat originated from a Google Voice internet phone number linked to similar threats reported at schools in other states.
Superintendent Dr. Jed Davis said in a video posted to the district’s Facebook page that a threat was called in to Bald Knob High School, prompting lockdowns across all campuses.
Police responded to every school campus and will maintain a heavy presence for the remainder of the day as a precaution, district officials said.
As of 1:15 p.m., the lockdown had been lifted. School officials said buses would run on their normal schedule Wednesday afternoon.
Parents checking out students were asked to be patient with school staff during the process.
