Officers from the Independence County Sheriff’s Department and the Batesville Police Department assisted parole and probation authorities in the hunt for an apparent parole violator that fled on-foot yesterday in the east section of Batesville.

Readers reported seeing officers searching around and inside various businesses in the Harrison Street area on Thursday. In a social media post shared by the sheriff’s department, the Batesville Daily Guard reported the man was described as a white male with red hair, a camo hoodie, and black pants. The post also featured a picture of Sheriff Shawn Stephens and BPD Sgt. Rick Davis searching on-foot behind Hobby Lobby.

Authorities told White River Now this morning that the offender was not found after the search.

If anyone has any information on this incident, and/or the whereabouts of the suspect, please contact the Independence County Sheriff’s Department or the Batesville Police Department and do not approach the subject.
