Carolyn (Foster) Lynch of Batesville, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the age of 97. She was born on January 21, 1925, in Augusta, Arkansas.

She was a graduate of Arkansas College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

On June 10, 1946, Miss Carolyn Foster was married to Mr. Oscar Lynch, Jr., and together they spent 39 years. She worked at the Pentagon during World War II. She was a Gold Star Mother, having lost her son in Vietnam.

She spent her teaching career as a 5th-grade teacher, working at Newark – Cedar Ridge School District for 29 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches, traveling, and taking bus tours. She was an avid gardener, who liked bird watching and especially loved taking care of her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar W. Lynch, Jr.; one son, Captain Stephen Lynch; one daughter, Marilyn Lynch; one sister, Kathleen Foster Hill; and her mother, Vida (Goodwin) Foster.

She is survived by one daughter, Laura Fulbright and husband, Jeremy of Batesville; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Peer of Newark, and Christopher Peer and wife, Leigh of Cave City; one great-grandchild, Sean Peer of Cave City; two sisters, Betty Johnston of Ashdown, Arkansas, and Sue Moore of Searcy, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Juanita Norris of Batesville; many former students, and a lifetime of friends.

Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Blue Springs Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeremy Fulbright, Christopher Peer, Sean Peer, Phillip Baker, Buddy Charlie, Will Charlie, and David Nelson.
