Obituary: Linda Lou (Owens) Norman

Linda Lou (Owens) Norman, 85, of Newport was called home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Owens and Carmen (Kackley) Owens; her husband of 52 years (in which he never regretted a minute of) Howard “Chuck” Norman; a daughter, Donna June (Norman) Letourneau; a sister, Betty Owens and a brother, Bobby Owens.

Linda was a retired employee of Jackson County, having served for many years in the Sheriff’s Office as Hot Check Department Coordinator.  She was a member of Umstead Memorial United Methodist Church, a regular volunteer at the church’s weekly food bank, a member of the United Methodist Women’s organization and enjoyed time with her Bible study group.

She loved to paint landscapes and still life, gardening and crossword puzzles.  Linda also enjoyed camping, baking, and canning and spent many years as a seamstress in her spare time.

Linda is survived by one son, John Norman and wife Suzi of Newport; one daughter, Holly Duncan and husband Spencer of Malvern; four grandchildren, Kelly Purifoy, Stephanie Brumley, Zackery Duncan and Draya Duncan and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Dillinger Funeral Home.  The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Keller’s Chapel Cemetery in Jonesboro.
