Burt Dewayne Willard, a beloved member of the Newport community, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the age of 51. Born on February 1, 1972, to Lester “Burt” and Mary Ann (Pyle) Willard, Burt was a kind-hearted and sociable man who touched the lives of many.

Burt’s warm and friendly nature made him a person who never met a stranger. He possessed an outgoing personality that drew people to him effortlessly. Burt had a genuine interest in others and would approach and engage in conversation with anyone he encountered. This quality endeared him to countless individuals and allowed him to forge lasting connections throughout his life.

One of Burt’s greatest joys in life was spending time with his family and friends. Whether it was enjoying the serenity of the river, embarking on a four-wheeler adventure, or gathering around a fire pit on a Saturday night, Burt cherished every moment shared with his loved ones. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter, finding solace and excitement in deer and squirrel hunting. Sundays held a special place in Burt’s heart as he dedicated those days to watching Nascar, eagerly cheering on his favorite driver, #48, Jimmy Johnson.

Burt’s untimely passing leaves a void in the lives of his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester “Burt” and Mary Ann Willard, as well as his grandparents, Mildred and Conway Pyle, and Johnny and Ethel Willard. Burt is survived by his wife, Jennifer, who shared in his joys and supported him throughout life’s journey. He is also survived by his son, Peyton Gregory of Bradford, and his sister, Mary Beth Cagle (Eddie) of Newport. Additionally, Burt leaves behind his niece, Brittany Dodson, and his nephews, Eric Cagle and Adam Cagle, all of Newport. He will be deeply missed by his many great nieces and nephews, as well as his close friends, Chad and Lisa Lindsey and Kenny and Ann Baty, all of Newport.

The celebration of Burt’s life will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel. In recognition of his close relationships and the impact he made on others, Scotty Pettit, Nick Pettit, Adam Cagle, Rick Herring, Matthew Pyle, and Lynn Pyle have been honored to serve as pallbearers. Fred Beard, Jimmy Pettit, Chad Lindsey and Kenny Baty will be remembered as honorary pallbearers, representing the cherished friendships Burt cultivated throughout his life.

Burt Dewayne Willard will forever be remembered for his kind heart, sociable nature, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to live on in the memories and hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
