Obituary: Thomas Clyde Ford

Thomas Clyde Ford, of Harrisburg, passed from this life on March 8, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Clyde was born January 20, 1939, to Willie Graves Ford and Riley Ford, of Wynne, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Twila Richardson Ford of Harrisburg. He is also survived by his children: Jill (Gene) Weeks of Paragould and Drue (Alisa) Ford of Cabot. He leaves behind three grandchildren, Whitney (Matthew) Miller of Paragould, Emily (Zac) Pearson, of Jonesboro, and Evan Ford of Cabot. Clyde is also survived by his sister, Mary Ford Hunter of Wynne. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Boyd Ford, Margaret Ellen Ford Capshaw, and Robert “Bob” Ford.
Clyde graduated from Wynne High School in 1956. He graduated from Memphis State University in 1960, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and served as President of the student body. He was the Band Director at Harrisburg High School for 16 years, followed by a long career with New York Life Insurance Company.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Harrisburg and was active in the North Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Clyde was the past President of Harrisburg Rotary Club where he served as its longest member. He also served as President of the Poinsett County Historical Society and served for many years on the Board of Directors for Methodist Health Systems of Memphis.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg on Monday 11, 2024 until service time. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00
P. M. with Rev. Mike Utley conducting the service. These men will serve as Active Pallbearers: Mark Morgan, Greg Reddmann, Don Winningham, Brian King, Kenneth Wixson, Kevin Wright, and Perry Long. Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth Branum, John May, Tom Wimpy, Larry Jennings, Barry Walls, Donna Bell, Donna Morgan, Bonnie Cox, Johnita Faulkner, Stacey Sloas, Sharon Heeb, Perry and June Long, Don and Judy Henderson, Jimmy and Pati Casebier, and Allen and Debra Bates. The family will hold a private burial.
The Ford family would like to thank: Dr. Ben Owens, the staff of St. Bernard Medical Center, and the staff of Woodbriar Nursing Home. The Ford family would also like to extend a special thanks to: Mark Morgan, Greg Reddmann, Perry Long, Joey Long, and Jimmy Casebier.
