
Michael Wayne Smith, 53, of Batesville, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026.
He was born on November 24, 1972, in Wichita, Kansas to Leonard Wilbur Smith and Nancy Helen (Jeffrey) Smith.
Michael proudly served his country for 25 years in the United States Army, including service in the National Guard, and earned the distinction of being a qualified Army Ranger. To those who served and worked alongside him, Michael was far more than a soldier — he was a respected mentor, a source of inspiration, and a loyal friend to many.
Above all, Michael deeply loved his wife and daughter. He was known for his kind heart, fun-loving spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him. He treasured time spent with family and friends and never missed an opportunity to have a seafood boil and grill a steak. Michael loved life on the lake, including going out on the pontoon, proudly serving as a dock master, and enjoying trail riding in his ATV. His warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Lisa (Combs) Smith of the home; one daughter, Aleena Smith (Andrew Wixson) of the home; three brothers, Randy Nash (Cathy) of Batesville, Jeffrey Nash (Lynn) of Wichita, Kansas, and Bobby Nash of Wichita, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Debbie Presley.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Alderbrook Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
