
UPDATE — According to Sheriff Shawn Stephens, State Highway 69 is now fully open, but one fatality has been reported in this afternoon’s accident. More information will be released from the Arkansas State Police at a later time.
EARLIER — Emergency personnel are on the scene of a serious, multi-lane accident on State Highway 69 North that has completely halted traffic between Batesville and Cushman.
According to local authorities, the crash occurred near the intersection of Highway 69 and McMahan Lane, located just north of Batesville, right before the drop-off at Limedale Hill.
Officials report that all lanes are currently closed and blocked in both directions. The closure is expected to last for an extended period while first responders safely work the scene and clear debris.
Motorists traveling toward Cushman or coming down into Batesville are strictly urged to avoid the area entirely and utilize alternate routes. No further details regarding injuries or the number of vehicles involved have been released at this time.
